When on the computer, a message comes up saying that there is a detected program that could have a virus, I looked up on the details, the program was Norton Anti-Virus. How do I get rid of AVG, its the free version and i haven’t updated it to the 2011 version.

Choose which one you want to keep – Norton is FAR FAR better than AVG, but as you know, it isn’t free.
And BOTH programs have a special uninstall tool, as NEITHER uninstalls cleanly using the Windows uninstaller.

But, as another answerer suggested, I use and recommend the free version of Avast.
